How to not look like you are going to prom on your big day . . . .

So your dress is picked out, flowers chosen, all around excitement building, what‘s next? YOUR HAIR! I find there is a very fine line between hair that is perfectly coiffed to appear like not much effort went into it, and then the dreaded shellacked prom hair. What could be worse than walking down the aisle, wind blowing through your helmet, I mean hair, never a stray loose, the whole design moving in sync with every gust? Eww!Its so much lovelier when the hair is soft with movement, it says “I’m relaxed, no bridezilla here,” rather than “watch out everybody, if I move my head too fast someone is going to lose an eye.” Depending on the length of your hair and the style of your dress, I love loose waves, or hair pulled into a soft low chignon. I love it when a bride’s face shows – you don’t have to wear it up, just have it curled away from your face. Most of all, be comfortable with your style. I, for one, am a chick who does not wear her hair up, I think it makes my face look fat, so I will definitely always choose a down-style or half-down in order to avoid feeling the need to suck my cheeks in everytime the photographer says “Cheese!”I love beautiful pieces of art tucked into the style. Depending on your wedding inspiration, a jeweled brooch, flower, or feathery piece with a hair comb is gorgeous tucked into the side of a low knot. It has a romantic feel, and if you pick a vintage comb or brooch, it takes care of your something old.

Headbands have become extremely popular and are taking the place of the much, if not slightly over, done tiara. If princess-y is not the route you want to take but you still want a little bling across your head, I recommend checking into this option, it can work for either hair that is down or up.

If you are looking to wear it down, or half-up, go with something that fits your dress and your style. Just because its not being styled into an intricate up-do, does not mean it can’t be dressy and sexy and detailed. For a more vintage, Hollywood glam look, try having it put into sultry waves or curls. I love it pulled to the side, it’s so very sexy-kitty.

For you modern or retro-chic gals, a little pouf on top and having it swept back is a very sexy way to achieve this style.

And for my personal favorite, I love the wavy, natural look. Perfect for beaches and
weddings with a wispy, ethereal look.

Most of all:
- Schedule at least one trial-run, you don’t want any surprises on the big day!
- Take pictures of what you want, styles you like, and even styles you don’t like.
- No major cuts or colors before the wedding!
- Don’t shy away from temporary extensions, just make sure you have tried them out with your stylist prior to the wedding.
- Book your day-of appointment early so that you are not rushed, make sure your emergency kit has bobby pins, hairspray, and a comb with a pick on the end, so that you can freshen up.
- Really girls, the most important thing to remember is . . . Just be yourself but even more fabulous!

I’m so glad you like it! I found it on Instyle Weddings, here is the link http://www.instyleweddings.com/weddings/gallery/1,,20165451,00.html it says it is a Lori London piece. It is so lovely though, very delicate and feminine.

I’ve been looking for a vintage style hair comb. I really like the one on the 6 image picture, the middle one on the top row. Could you tell me where it is from please?
